In Arraba, Jenin, Abu Ali Mustafa’s village, a mass rally took place on August 23, 2008, in the courtyard of Abu Ali Mustafa Secondary School, launching the series of events marking the seventh anniversary of Comrade Leader Abu Ali Mustafa’s martyrdom. Abu Ali Mustafa, then the General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was assassinated on August 27, 2001, by an Israeli missile fired from an attack helicopter as he worked in his office in Ramallah.

The event took place with the participation of hundreds of students and villagers. Comrade Nasser Abu Aziz, member of the Central Committee of the PFLP, delivered the keynote speech on behalf of the PFLP, stressing upon the principles of Abu Ali Mustafa, which called for the continuation of struggle under any circumstances for the liberation of Palestine, and upholding the Palestinian national principles of the right of return and self-determination. Comrade Abu Aziz stressed calling upon Hamas and Fateh to uphold one constant at this moment, to respect and to end the spilling of Palestinian blood by other Palestinians in internal conflicts.

The Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees participated in organizing the event and distributed a statement marking the anniversary, as well as the Palestinian Student Action Front, who distributed 150 awards for students. The students also performed debkeh, a musical march and other cultural performances.(Photos)
