Chicago protest in solidarity with people of Egypt (Fight Back! News/Chapin Gray)

The following analysis by Kosta Harlan is from Fight Back! News:

History is unfolding before our eyes in Egypt this week, as millions of Egyptians take to the streets to demand the ouster of Hosni Mubarak and fundamental democratic reforms. The future is unwritten, but there is no doubt that the Jan. 25 movement marks a turning point in the struggle for national liberation in the Middle East. For what the Egyptian people are proving as they march through the streets demanding justice and pushing back against police forces wielding tear gas and live ammunition, is that the people are stronger than their oppressors.

FBI infiltration of anti-war movement uncovered in Minneapolis

Jess Sundin speaking at the press conference (Fight Back! News / Kim Defranco)

The following is a very valuable and important article from Fight Back!, the newspaper of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization:

Minneapolis, MN – At a press conference here, Jan. 12, Jess Sundin of the Twin Cites based Anti-War Committee (AWC) blasted police infiltration of the anti-war and international solidarity movement, stating, “We are here today to express outrage that our democratic rights have been violated by a government operation of spying, infiltration and disruption of our anti-war movement, which was carried out over the course of at least two and half years.”

The exposure of an undercover law enforcement agent in the Twin Cities anti-war movement is linked to the Sept. 24, 2010 FBI raids on peace and international solidarity organizers and the subpoenas that have been served on 23 activists to appear in front of a Chicago Grand Jury.

The following article by Brad Sigal is from Fight Back! News:

Winona, MN – On Jan. 3, an FBI agent contacted Waziyatawin, a well-known Dakota activist and scholar. Waziyatawin said she declined to talk with the FBI agent about the presentation or her viewpoints and instead referred him to her attorney.

According to a statement being circulated by her supporters, Waziyatawin’s Nov. 8 speech concerned the brutal realities of the colonization of this continent’s land, its resources, and First Nations People. She also spoke of a common need to restore the environment and a way of living that is not reliant on capitalism and the destruction of nature.

Korea ‘crisis’ made in Washington: Huge U.S.-south Korean military maneuvers were the real provocation

Fight Back News Service is circulating the following article from Workers World.

When a “crisis” regarding Korea suddenly appears in the U.S. corporate media, their take is always that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (socialist north Korea) has done something totally irrational to cause it.

They totally disregard the facts of what happened and, of equal importance, what led up to it.

The Curious, Mysterious, Obsolete and Dangerous Federal Grand Jury

The following commentary by Bernardine Dohrn is from Fight Back! News:

I was subpoenaed to a federal grand jury in May of 1982 in New York City. It has left me as something of a specialist in an arcane, secretive and obsolete area of the law – one that has just reappeared with FBI raids, seizures of private papers, computers and subpoenas to compel testimony in Chicago, Minneapolis and other cities across the country.

FBI Harassment of Anti-War Activists Continues in Twin Cities
